Anna Drasler celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, March 16, at Forest City Personal Care, surrounded by five generations of her family and dozens of friends. She was born Anna Saiz in Sesser, Ill., where she grew up on a small farm.
After finishing eighth grade she went off to work in St. Louis as a mother's helper and later moved to Browndale when her Uncle Tony Zaitz needed an able helper for the boarding house.
That's where she met Tony Drasler, who was to be her husband of 54 years. They had three children. Anna worked in the garment industry in Forest City for 30 years. She is a grandmother of five, great grandmother of nine and great great grandmother of two.
