Church Lunch

The Red Door Cafe will host a free lunch at Peckville United Methodist Church, 723 N. Main St., on Saturday, April 22, noon to 1 p.m. Brunch will be served by a Girl Scout troop. All are welcome.

Scout Dinner

Boy Scout Troop 322’s annual pasta dinner will be held on Saturday, April 22, 5-7 p.m. (takeout 3:30-4:30 p.m.) at the Eagle Hose Co., 1 Eagle Lane in Dickson City. Meal includes pasta, meatballs, salad, bread and dessert. For tickets or more information, call 570-489-5059 or 570-650-5028.

Coal Miners Statue Meeting

A meeting will be held on Monday April 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Shopa-Davey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6082, 123 Electric St. in Peckville, concerning the plans to erect the monument in Blakely Borough Park. Everyone is welcome.

Neighborhood Watch

The Throop Neighborhood Watch will meet Thursday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at the Throop Civic Center. Residents are encouraged to attend.

Church Dinner

Open Closet

Covenant Reformed Church, 47 S. Church St. in Carbondale, will hold its spring open closet on Saturday, April 29, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Open Closet features a wide selection of men’s, women’s and children’s clothes and other household items, all free of charge. Stormwater/Rain Barrel Workshop

The Lackawanna River Conservation Association (LRCA) will hold a saving stormwater/rain barrel workshop on Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Elm Street Park, 261 Elm St. in Dickson City. Night at the Races

Eureka Hose Co. No. 4, 717 E. Grant St. in Olyphant, along with the Mid-Valley Youth Soccer organization, will sponsor a night at the races on Saturday, April 29, at the fire station. Doors open 5:30 p.m. First horse race will be at 7 p.m. $15 ticket includes buffet and refreshments. Seating is limited. Adults only. There will also be asket raffles. Trivia Night

The Eynon-Archbald Lions Club will hold a trivia night on Saturday, April 29, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Wozniak-Pavloski Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7963, 284 Main St. in Eynon. Refreshments and light fare will be available. Tickets are $20.

Pet Photo Contest

The Friends of the Valley Community Library, 739 River St. in Peckville, are hosting a pet photo contest to raise funds for the library. Pet photos will be accepted at the library through Saturday, April 29, and public voting will take place from May 2-20. Three winners with the most votes will receive a PetSmart gift card ($25 first, $15 second, $10 third). Photos may be entered for $5 each or 3 photos for $10, and only one photo may be entered of each pet. No people may be visible in the photos. Photos must be 5-by-7-inches and matted. Benefit Party

A benefit dinner will held on Sunday, April 30, 1-4 p.m. at Happy Valley Sports Bar, 516 Storrs St. in Dickson City, for the Hudzik family of Archbald, who were displaced after a structure fire at their home in March. Political Dinner

Jessup Democratic Organization will sponsor a takeout-only chicken parmesan/pasta dinner on Sunday, April 30, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Caverna Restaurant, 602 Church St. in Jessup. Reunion Meeting

VFW Dinner

Shopa-Davey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6082 will hold a ziti pasta sausage and meatball dinner at the post home, 123 Electric St. in Peckville on Sunday, May 7, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until sold out. Tickets are $10 from a member or at the door. Take outs will be available.

Vendors Sought

Browndale Fire Co. No. 1 invites local vendors to exhibit at the third annual Cruzin’ 2 Browndale Car Show benefiting the fire company to be held on Saturday, June 3, at the Browndale Fire Co. grounds, 620 Marion St. Crafters, vendors and swap meet applicants will be accepted.
