Booster Club

The Throop Booster Club will meet on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Throop Civic Center. Elected officers for 2018 will be sworn in. Topics to be discussed will include the 30th annual Cow Flop on Aug. 24-25.

Dance Club

The Northeast Social Dance Club, (NESDC) will hold a dance on Saturday, Jan. 13, 8-11 p.m. at the Falcon’s Nest, 403 Hudson St. in Mayfield. Music will be provided by DJ Phyllis. Admission is $5 and the public is invited. For more information, call 570-766-9643.

Operation Noel

Jessup’s Operation Noel will be removing the Christmas decorations throughout town on Sunday, Jan. 14, beginning at 8 a.m. Anyone interested in helping should report to the Heritage Center on Church Street.

Archbald Heroes Banners

There will be public information and application sessions for the 2018 Hometown Heroes Banners at the Archbald Borough Building, 400 Church St. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Applicants are encouraged to bring payment, photo and proof of service to these sessions. Cost is $225 and all applications are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.

Community Dinner

Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River St. in Carbondale, will hold a free community dinner on Saturday, Jan. 20, noon to 1 p.m.

Roast Beef Dinner

Peckville United Methodist Church, 732 Main St., will hold a takeout-only roast beef dinner on Saturday, Jan. 20, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Advance sale tickets are $12 (call 570-489-6093 or 570-489-8042 by Saturday, Jan. 13). Tickets at the door are $14, if available. Drive through from Main Street for pick up.

Music at Kenny’s

Purse Bingo

Forest City Area Emergency Services, 380 Railroad St. in Forest City, will hold designer purse bingo on Sunday, Jan. 21 (snow date: Sunday, Jan. 28). Doors will open at noon, games will start at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25. Call 570-785-3837 for tickets.

Snowfake Gala

The seventh annual Snowflake Gala benefiting Leader Dogs for the Blind, and hosted by the Eynon-Archbald Lions Club, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 6-11 p.m. at Fiorelli’s in Peckville. Open bar; entertainment by Music for Models and Top shelf Entertainment; international tasting stations, silent auctions, basket raffles and more. Tickets are $75. Veteran’s Bricks

The Scott Township Veterans Memorial Committee routinely continues to take memorial brick orders throughout the year. However, if anyone wishes to have a brick installed for Memorial Day, May 28, the bricks must be ordered by March 3. Since its dedication in 2013, 497 memorial bricks have been installed at the township’s veterans memorial.
