Recently, the 14th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer was held at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Carbondale. The event is annually designated by the United States Congress, calling the nation “to turn to God in prayer and meditation.” The interdenominational congregation filled the church with spiritual and patriotic songs. Bible readings and prayers by local community leaders, pastors and church representatives centered on lifting up the nation’s government, educators, churches, families, first responders, businesses and media before God. Sponsored by the Carbondale Area Ministerium, the Day of Prayer draws in participants from the Upper Valley and beyond.
