Forest City's annual Old Home Week festival is underway. Among the highlights of this year's festivities will be performances by three U.S. Air Force units. A 29-member marching unit will take part in the annual parade on Saturday, July 31, beginning at 2 p.m., carrying rifles with bayonets and drilling along the parade route. Following the parade at 3:30 p.m., another unit, a drill team consisting of approximately 16 members, will put on a 20-minute performance.

On Sunday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m., the Air Force band Celtic Aire will sing their Irish music on the basketball court at Kennedy Park.

Events on Friday, July 30, include an antique car show, a pet show, a performance by Lynnette's Twirlerettes and music by The Quake. The day ends with fireworks.

Saturday, July 31, begins with the Coal Cracker two- and five-mile run at 8 a.m., the presentation of the distinguished citizen awards and of course the parade. The fourth annual pierogi eating contest begins at 5:30 p.m. and music by Flaxy Morgan ends the day.

On Sunday, Aug. 1, the focus shifts to Kennedy Park where the chicken barbecue and cow plop begins at noon, along with music by Prime Time.

And, of course, the 10-and-under baseball tournament will run the entire weekend. For more information, visit http://oldhomeweek.info.
