Booster Meeting

The Valley View Softball Booster Club is meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the Valley View High School Library, 1 Columbus Drive, Archbald. All are welcome to attend.

Scholarship Offered

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5937 in Dickson City is offering a $1,000 scholarship to seniors residing within the Mid Valley School District. The student must be the child or grandchild of a parent who has served in the U.S. military, or a child or grandchild of a member of Post No. 5937. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2013. Before- and After-School Program

Dickson City Civic Center's before- and after-school program runs Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Busing is available to and from Mid Valley School District, La Salle Academy and Geneva School for students who reside in the Mid Valley School District. Full-day care is available on snow days available on snow days and school days off. The program is designed to benefit working parents by providing an alternative environment conducive to physical activity, homework and socialization.

The staff and facility are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and is Title XX approved. For more information call 383-1813 or stop by at 935 Albert St., Dickson City.

Toddler Time

Toddler Time with Miss Lori is held at the Dickson City Civic Center, 935 Albert St., Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver, who must take part in the program. Story time, arts and crafts, gym, free play are part of the curriculum along with healthy snacks. Special holidays are also celebrated. Stop by the center or call 383-1813 for more information.

YMCA Care Programs

At the Greater Carbondale YMCA:

- Y-Baby and Y-Tots: Both programs will operate weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Y-Baby is for infants less than a year old. Y-Tots is for children ages 1 to 3. Spaces for both programs are limited. Y-Tots children will be divided into younger (13-24 months) and older (24-36 months) toddler groups.

- WeeTots: Part-day program for children 2 to 3 years old will operate weekdays, 9-11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. It is not necessary for the child to be toilet trained.

- Y-Pals preschool: pre-K program for toilet-trained children 3-5 years of age. Runs from through June. Available for half-day or full-day classes. Scholarships are available.
