Future Teacher Award

Lakeland High School senior Caitlin Floyd has been awarded the Pennsylvania Association of School Retiree’s Lackawanna Chapter Future Teacher scholarship award, given to an outstanding senior student who is attending one of Lackawanna County’s high schools, and who is planning to attend college to pursue a teaching career. Caitlin was selected based on her academic achievements and future education endeavors. She is valedictorian of the Lakeland H.S. Class of 2009 and will attend Pennsylvania State University this fall. She is a three-year member of the National Honor Society, the Scholastic Bowl team, drama club and the International Thespian Society, Campus Life, Mu Alpha Theta and the accreditation for growth student committee. She has volunteered as an advanced-placement chemistry tutor, as a library volunteer and participated in the Breath of Life Walk and Youth Day of Caring.
