Valley View Middle School recently held its annual district championship portion of the National Geographic Bee. All students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades took a written qualifying test, which determined the 25 finalists who competed on stage in front of an audience of students, teachers and parents until two finalists, and ultimately a champion, were decided.
Finishing in third place was eighth-grader Nathaniel Worrell, son of Laura Worrell of Archbald. The first runner-up was eighth-grader Jesse Deliman, son of Eric and Amy Deliman, both of Archbald. The bee champion was William Darienzo III, son of William Darienzo Jr. of Dunmore, and Barbara Kochis of Archbald.
Rounding out the top 25 competitors were Natalia Sturdevant, Zania Roxas, Jealousy Gorko, Dylan Smith, Gia Mazza, Katelyn Ainey, Brianna Zipay, Michael Ver-non, Elijah Zimmerman, Josh Littlejohn, Rina Zambetti, Joey Toczydlowski, Madison Scoblick, Estella DeJesus, Enzo Angeloni, Nathan Tratthen, Abby Drozdick, Natalie Fuller, Evan Babarsky, Aiden Pugh, Brayden Baron and Evan Chilek.
