The Marywood University Orchestra will kick off its 2012-2013 season with a diverse program that includes works by Mozart, Milhaud and Stravinsky. The performance will take place Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m., at the Sette LaVerghetta Center on the campus of Marywood University, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton. Admission is free.

Conductor Nathaniel F. Parker (above) has been working with the 40-member ensemble since the beginning of the semester. Prepared and polished, the orchestra is ready to perform, Parker says.

"I've very proud of the students, of how they always rise to the occasion," he explains. "Over the years, I feel that we've improved with each concert, and the performers have risen to every challenge I've put before them."
