Shane Zeshonski of Archbald, a member of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s MD class of 2020, recently delivered a presentation on mental health and substance use disorders in Northeast Pennsylvania. He assessed the scope of the problem and described potential interventions. The presentation is the result of a detailed community health research project, which all Geisinger Commonwealth medical students are required to complete. Community health research projects are intentionally aimed at finding solutions to health problems specific to the communities the school of medicine serves.
