Valley View Softball Booster Club will hold its first meeting of the softball season on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. in the high school library. All are welcome to attend.
• The following students earned dean’s list honors for the fall semester at Saint Joseph’s University. Amy Troutman of Dickson City and Morgan Walsh of Carbondale.
• Alexis F. Mazzie of Peckville has been named to the dean’s list for her 3 rd straight semester at West Virginia University, for the fall semester. She is the daughter of Frank and Patti Mazzie.
• The following area students were named to the Becker College dean’s list for the fall semester: Ian Redmon of Archbald and Brianna Farber of Carbondale.
The District 9 Band Festival will be held at Valley View High School in Archbald. There will be 162 students attending the festival, with 33 different school districts being represented. Mike Lesnesky, Band Director from Valley View High School, is the Host Director.
The Band Festival will culminate with a concert on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m in the Valley View High School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door and cost $5; $3 for students.
Carissa Neary of Jermyn was one of more than 30 students who were inducted into the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta) has three major objectives: to promote scholarship in the biological sciences; to promote the dissemination of biological knowledge; and to encourage research.
The Dickson City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5937 is again offering two $2,000 scholarships to children and grandchildren of its regular members and veterans living in the Mid-Valley area. Applications for scholarships are available by calling 570- 489-1222. Deadline for applying is Monday, May 1.
