Valley View Softball Booster Club will hold its first meeting of the softball season on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. in the high school library. All are welcome to attend.
The Dickson City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5937 is again offering two $2,000 scholarships to children and grandchildren of its regular members and veterans living in the Mid-Valley area. Applications for scholarships are available by calling 570- 489-1222. Deadline for applying is Monday, May 1.
The Mid Valley Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 11, has enacted a new scholarship program assisting those disabled veterans in financial need. If you are a disabled veteran currently enrolled or attending a college, university or advanced schooling program, you could be eligible. Applications for the scholarship can be picked up and dropped off at the Dickson City Borough Building, 901 Enterprise St. in Dickson City.
The Forest City Lady Foresters high school softball team will hold a pasta/game night in the high school cafeteria on Sunday, Feb. 26. There will also be take outs available from 1-3 p.m. Cost of takeout dinners is $10. Menu includes pasta, homemade meatballs, a salad, roll and dessert. dinner/bingo tickets are available for $25 each dinner (includes pasta, homemade meatballs, salad, roll, dessert table and 17 games of bingo for prizes.) Dinners will be served 4-5 p.m.; games start at 5:30. There will also be basket raffles, a 50/50 and other games for an additional cost. This fundraiser is being held to raise money for new uniform shirts, under armor, jackets and spikes.
