U of S Award Winners

Neil S. Kalariya of Peckville, Caitlin J. Burke of Dunmore and Chrysa A. Safko of Scott Township were among the 57 students who received awards from The University of Scranton during its undergraduate class night ceremony. The Jesuit university recognized exceptional students from the Class of 2010 with awards for academic achievement and service.

Neil S. Kalariya was recipient of the undergraduate alumni loyalty and service award. He received a bachelor of science, cum laude, in biology and neuroscience with minors in psychology and nutrition. He plans to pursue an international service program to Guyana and attend the Temple University School of Medicine.

Caitlin J. Burke was recipient of the excellence in theater award. She received a bachelor of art, magna cum laude, in theatre with minors in English and art history. She will attend Brooklyn Collegem, pursuing a master of fine arts in stage design and technical production with a concentration in costume design.

Chrysa Safko was the recipient of the excellence in nursing award. She received a bachelor of science, magna cum laude, in nursing. She is applying for a position on the pediatric oncology unit at Geisinger Hospital in Danville and plans to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.
