Ten members (former and current) of Valley View School District's choral group Vivace! will represent Valley View School District at the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Choral Director's Association's Junior High Honor Choir. The two-day event will be held at Penn State University Aug. 1-2.
Vivace! recently achieved another honor. Each year, the group participates in a music competition in the Lehigh Valley. This year, along with receiving numerous trophies for its high scores, it has been awarded the company's grand sweepstakes award. This award is given to the highest scoring ensemble at the festival.
"It is truly an honor to present this award to you and your fine organization," said Ron Simmons, executive director of Music Showcase Festivals. "The hard work and dedication that you, the director, and every member of the ensemble displayed was exemplary. Your community, parents and administration should all be proud of your accomplishment.
Vivace! is an auditioned treble choir of 55 seventh through tenth grade students from the Valley View School District. Since 2004, the choir has attended the Music in the Parks and Music Showcase Festivals and has consistently achieved excellent and superior ratings. The group released its first CD in April 2009 and their second CD (Christmas Carols from around the World) will be released in November 2010.
Choir members include: Martina Barna, Emily Bridges, Mariah Browning, Eric Burke, Morgan Caselli, Gianna Cerra, Tressa Cicci, Gina Coccetti, Megan Coggins, AnnMarie Crimi, Adam Crimi, Brianna Florovito, LeahBeth Evans, Alexandra Evans, Kendra Farrell, Kelly Farrell, Amanda Ferraro, Laura Ferraro, Hannah Fornes, Ava Gambucci, Holly Gasper, Erica Gerichten, Julia Gillow, Beth Gillow, Vicki Gillow, Molly Granza, Tiffany Gregori, Sarah Kandel, Rachael Kandel, Joelle Kaszuba, Emily Kempa, Emily Kotcho, Katrina Kotcho, Jessica Lochie, Carli Lucke, Joseph Mayurnick, Melanie McAndrew, Emily McElroy, Jonathan Mengoni, Sara Miraglia, Breanna Pegula, Tyra Pepper-Kosakevitch, Elizabeth Pryal, Vicky Roberts, Evan Sutton, Zac Swartout, Mackenzie Swift, Gabriella Tolerico, Desiree Ubaldini, Mary Walker, Amanda Walter, Lauren Zavada and Julie Zaverl. Vivace! is under the direction of Gina Lupini and accompanied by Michael O'Malley.
