Dear Carbondale Area students and parents,

I am proud and honored to serve as the new Superintendent of Carbondale Area School District and would like to take a moment to share my thoughts and officially introduce myself.

My first interaction with the Carbondale Area School District was the 2020 graduation ceremony. I witnessed Carbondale’s admirable sense of pride and tradition, as well as the collective effort of the community to put together such a meaningful event. I am excited to be a part of that collaborative community, and I welcome the great deal of important work ahead of us.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my family. I share my life with my husband, Larry, and our 4-year old golden retriever, Liberty. We are avid Pittsburgh sports team enthusiasts, and I am an adopted West Virginia University fan. My husband, my late father-in-law, my mother-in-law, and my sister-in-law all attended WVU, and it’s easy to understand why they love their university. Liberty is AKC Canine Good Citizen-certified and has participated in rally obedience, agility, barn hunt and dock diving training.

Faculty members, administrative staff, directors of the school board, parents and residents have been exceedingly welcoming and helpful to our family. We are excited to become a part of the Carbondale community and look forward to the many features it has to offer.

I was an educator in the West Shore School District and have over 20 years of experience in the field. I was the principal of Red Land High School for 11.5 years before moving to central office and have 17 years of experience as an administrator. I also served in the capacity of social studies teacher, field hockey coach, girls’ basketball coach, softball coach and as an assistant principal at both the middle school and high school levels. I am enrolled in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program through Shippensburg and Millersville Universities and am currently in the dissertation phase of the program.

During my time as an educator, those I have served know that I always put their welfare and safety first. I consistently have their best interests in mind, and when I make significant decisions that will greatly impactdistrict students, staff and the community, I must be thoughtful, pragmatic and reflective.

Servant leadership drives my approach to organizational performance. My commitment to you is to lead by example with respect, altruism, honesty and fairness. I consistently behave in an open, dependable and trustworthy manner, and I expect those I work with and serve to do the same. I am committed to promoting academic excellence and enhancing the physical, intellectual, social-emotional and wellbeing of all students. Our work is crucial to develop the college and career readiness skills students need to ensure their college, career, and life success.

I am eager to contribute and enhance practices at Carbondale Area School

District and I look forward to the year ahead. Together as one team, we will create pathways for students to grow and be successful. Best wishes for a happy and safe summer.
