Alvernia University

Marissa Bennici of Olyphant was recognized for her service as a resident assistant during the 2020-21 academic year. As an RA, Bennici encourages student responsibility and accountability, working to provide a residential environment that enhances student academic progress and success, the school said in a press release.

Scholar-athletes Jason Jablonowski from Simpson and Rebecca Avery from Dickson City were recognized for their academic successes over the course of the past two semesters.

Alexandria Carter of Dickson City was awarded a gold star for her academic achievements during the fall 2020 semester.

East Stroudsburg University

Brianna Frable of Dunmore, Kristen Konarzewski of Peckville and Rachel McCarthy of Jessup were scheduled to be recognized at this year’s Annual Honors Convocation. The event was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the students were sent certificates of recognition instead.

Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine

Michael Pheasant of Dunmore was among the four medical students who published an article in the May edition of The Journal of Arthroplasty. Clinical faculty authors were Edward DelSole, MD and John Mercuri, MD, both Geisinger orthopedic surgeons. The Journal of Arthroplasty is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and manuscripts from all areas relating to joint replacement or the treatment of its complications. The article the Geisinger team published was entitled, “Lumbar spine fusion and symptoms of leg length discrepancy following hip arthroplasty.”

Philip Davitt of Dickson City, David Weaver of Carbondale, Brandon Grandinetti of Olyphant, and Michael Salansky of Uniondale earned a spot of the spring 2021 president’s list.

Rochester Institute of Technology

Connor Chernesky of Archbald was initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Anna Totsky of Fell Twp. was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing.

Elizabeth Golosky of Greenfield Twp. was inducted into Upsilon Phi Delta, the national honor society for graduate and undergraduate students in healthcare administration programs.

Harshdeep Kahlon of Dickson City and Donald Vispi of Peckville were inducted into Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the international honor society in the computing and information disciplines.

Christina Parry of Peckville was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society.

Justin Thomas of Olyphant was inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society in economics.

Joshua Rudolph of Peckville was inducted into Phi Sigma Tau, the international honor society for students of philosophy.

Emma Boyle of Peckville, Alicia Lipinski of Dunmore and Julia Romanovich of Peckville were inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the national Jesuit honor society.
