Twirlerettes set recital date
Lynnette’s Twirlerettes will hold their annual baton twirling recitals on April 23 in the auditorium of Carbondale Area High School.
This year’s theme is NEPA Proud, which relates to all things in Northeast Pennsylvania.
Forest City and Lake Ariel Twirler Divisions show will begin at 3 p.m. and the Carbondale Twirler Division show begins at 5:30 p.m. Doors open 45 minutes before each show. Rail-trail council hosts celebration
The Rail-Trail Council of NEPA will celebrate the 38-mile trail on April 23.
The Trail Day celebration will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Caboose at the Union Dale Trailhead. Activities include a noon bike ride, a 1 p.m. walk/hike and a 2 p.m. children’s hike and read. Dogs can join in on the fun with a 1:30 p.m. parade. Cable’s will have the grill going, weather permitting, and Jim Carro will perform music.

Reality TV stars to appear at banquet
Two reality TV stars will be headlining a special Youth for Christ banquet in Peckville later this month.
“Duck Dynasty” stars Alan and Lisa Robertson will be headlining the Northeast Pennsylvania Youth For Christ annual adult banquet April 22 from 6-9 pm, at Fiorelli’s Catering, 1501 Main St.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the “Best Beard Contest,” with a prize awarded to the winner.

Marywood to host leadership event
Marywood University’s Ninth Annual Community Leadership Celebration will honor a longtime counseling faculty member next month.
Sister Gail Cabral, IHM, Ph.D., C.M.F.C., is a licensed psychologist and a member of Marywood’s psychology/counseling faculty for the past 52 years. She’ll be recognized at the event set for 5:30 p.m. May 5 at the Center for Athletics and Wellness on Marywood’s campus. During the celebration, Sister Gail will receive the University’s Lead On Award, in recognition of her lifelong commitment to education, to service and to the common good.
The Community Leadership Celebration, Marywood’s signature fundraiser, provides special support to Marywood students and honors individuals in the community who exemplify Marywood’s core values in leadership and service to others. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the President’s Innovation Fund, which supports Marywood students through initiatives that enhance the academic experience in the IHM tradition.
